London
has 5 airports with regular commercial services, (Heathrow,
Gatwick,
Luton and
Stansted.
Airport transfer options range from 15 minutes to 2 hours, from £3
to £70.
London is the European hub for the
low cost budget airlines network and has also the busiest
international schedules in the world. If you are travelling from Europe
do check them out they will provide a benchmark price for your flights.
Remember, your favourite travel agent or on-line air ticket portal
will not provide these as an option as they pay no commission.

| Don't
forget City airport. The smallest and closest to Central London with
carriers like Lufthansa, Swiss and Air France operating regular schedules.
Deals are in many cases slightly cheaper than their Heathrow alternative. |

Heathrow
hotels are plentiful at all price levels. Nearly all the major chains
will have at least one large hotel at Heathrow.
Independents and Bed & Breakfast hotels hold their own too. There
are non free hotel shuttles at Heathrow, these have been banned to
reduce road traffic. Instead scheduled coaches regularly run along
set routes taking in typically 3 or 4 hotels along the way.

Gatwick
hotels again are readily available. There is a good choice of hotels
very close to the passenger terminals.
Gatwick is perhaps the major UK airport for charter traffic, as a
result there is more of a balance between budget accommodation and
hotels geared to the businessmen than Heathrow.
Nearly all hotels run complementary hotel shuttle buses.

| Stansted
Airport |
 |
For
an airport where most of the traffic is through low cost budget airlines
there is surprisingly little budget accommodation at Stansted.
On airport hotels are restricted to the 4 star Hilton and Radisson
SAS. Independent hotels further out are still more expensive than
their counterparts at other London airports.

| Luton
Airport |

In
terms of passenger traffic the smallest of the four London airports,
consequently choice is restricted.
There are two on-airport hotels offering budget accommodation, the
Ibis and Express by Holiday Inn. At this moment there are no large
4 star hotels aimed at the businessman here.
