In the last decade a lot more apartment accommodation for short let has come onto the market. Given this is predominantly a business area, rates tend to be much cheaper at the weekend when the businessmen are away.
Its not all commerce, the area around Tower Bridge and the Tower of London has much to offer the leisure visitor too.
The area on the other side of the River Thames in the London Bridge area was not so long ago was just derelict warehouses. Like many other cities, the commercial docks areas have been rejuvenated in a very atmospheric and attractive way.

There are several apartment options close to the border between the commercial district and the West End entertainment district in Holborn and Farringdon. Here you can have the best of both worlds if you are on business with easy access to the commercial area and within walking distance of Covent Garden and the Leicester Square - the heart of the theatre and entertainment in London.
Apartment rates in the City area and the West End are relatively high. To the west of the centre is Kensington and Hyde Park. This is a more residential area and a traditional district for letting apartments. The apartments in the City of London tend to be quite new and purpose built, in Kensington they are mostly more mature buildings. Apartments in Kensington tend to have much lower rates for the same grade of apartment than in the centre.
