Bloomsbury is renowned as the literary district of London with book shops and publishers. London university in Bloomsbury doesn't deter from this activity. The Charing Cross Road in particular is famous for its book shops.
There are also lots of antique shops and collectors shops plus some really quirky independent shops that makes the district a delight to explore.
Bloomsbury is also a very elegant and historic district of London with plenty of garden squares making welcome retreats from the hustle and bustle in the streets. As you wander the streets blue plaques commemorate famous people who have lived in the buildings.

As you would expect for such an attractive district, hotel rates do reflect a certain premium for staying here, but it is cheaper than the luxury hotels just 5 to 10 minutes walk away around Leicester Square. There are budget hotels in Bloomsbury that we have a dedicated page for, but budget is relative. Bloomsbury is mostly full of mid-range and luxury hotels.
