Typical Reviews Holiday Inn Kensington Forum
"Came to London for a concert with my friend's daughter. This hotel is in a large tower. We were pretty high up in the tower. Her first comment was: Wow look at the view - I feel like a rock star. View was spectacular.
Room was nice. All very clean. Beds were very, very comfortable. Location is superb for Earl's Court and Hammersmith shows. We were back at the hotel by 11 pm. Hotel staff were helpful. Added security with room key needed to operate the lift. The only negative was that the bathroom was very small. We would stay again. "
"Stayed here for 2 nights with my auntie. Came to London mainly to see the wizard of oz but also just for a short break.
On arrival it appeared to be of the better class of hotel and all of the staff were friendly. We had arrived early (1230pm) but were able to check in to our room immediately. Room was decent size perfect for 2 people but any more would be crowded. We had 2 single beds and there was a small 2 seater sofa which I think was bed available for 3rd member but to be honest this would make it rather squashed.
Room was clean, with tea and coffee, flat screen tv, iron and ironing board and trousers press. Beds were comfortable and bathroom although small was adequate and clean. Had bath with shower overhead. We can't complain at all about the room.
WiFi was supposed to be free but we were told our booking didn't include this. Prices for wifi were ridiculous and I only really wanted to use my smart phone to check London map and attractions and best ways to get there that I used my phone data instead. Would have been nice to offer hotel guests at least some free WiFi time even if only 30 minutes.
Breakfast was served in restaurant and offered a fantastic choice - from continental, cereals, full cooked breakfast fruits etc and was buffet style. The tea and coffee served however was dreadful, tea was over stewed and Luke warm and would have been better if got pot for your table.
I was on crutches during my stay and must admit everyone was really helpful. The consierge was really helpful and friendly although seemed bewildered as to why I was using the underground and walking round London!
The hotel has gym facilities but we didn't use these. It also appeared to have good conference facilities.
There is a cafe, bar and grill, and a traditional pub within the hotel all serving food. The bar and grill appeared pricey so we choose not to eat here but we did have a sharing platter in the pub which was good.
Hotel location is in a good area and Gloucester road tube is easy walking distance - about 2 minutes away giving access to picadilly, circle and district lines. There is a number of restaurants, pubs and bars surrounding the hotel and Tesco and waitrose are near gloucester road tube station with a number of fast food places. There is also a sainsburys nearby.
I would recommend staying at this hotel and it is probably a 3 maybe a 4 star hotel. It's great for a comfortable base while you see the sights of London. The higher rooms certainly have a good view of the city. We were on floor 7 but went up to the top floor which was floor 27 and had a look out of the hallway windows and the view was amazing. "
"we took two rooms - one for us and one for our two teenagers. One slept on the twin bed, and on on the couch opened to bed. Once the couch opened there was no space to move inside the room, but the hotel's location is very good, service is good. The only downside is Sunday morning - the elevators are not enough for everyone, and here is a 15 min. line to get into the dining room. Food is good, and refilled constantly. We like this hotel. "
"I've stayed in fancier hotels while in London so I was a little worried about staying at a Holiday Inn. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel isn't fancy but it's fine. Everything is clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, the location is great. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room but it was comfortable, clean, and quiet.
The buffet breakfast was a great value - English breakfast (croissants, eggs, sausages, juice, coffee, toast, etc.). Restaraunts in the area were great and all with a few minutes walk which is really nice after a day of shopping to just go somewhere close by (Byron for burgers, Light of India for Indian, chinese on the corner under the Millenium, Fish & Chips/shawarma across from Gloucester station).
The hotel is one block from Gloucester station which has 3 lines. This makes accessing London very quick and easy. Ok it's not right at Oxford Circus or Covent Garden but you can get there in 15-20 minutes, Harrod's is 10 minutes by tube. Overall this was great value. I would stay there again. The money I saved on hotel I could spend shopping. "
"I booked a Sunday and Monday night on a 2 nights for the price of 1 deal through Holiday Inn's own website: at half the Sunday night rate it was a very good rate. It's a bit of a strange hotel, has very many floors but the lifts are quite efficient so you don't usually have to wait too long for them.
Rooms are a reasonable size for London, and as a Priority Club member I was upgraded to an Executive Room which does have a King Sized bed, mini bar with complimentary water and chunky bar of KitKat (but only one for two people!!).
I also had free access to the new Business Lounge, where wifi is free, and complimentary drinks (including wine and beer) are on offer from 6 to 10 on weekday evenings. The complimentary snacks aren't much to write home about, and the refusal of the host to get some peanuts for one of the guests (who even said he would pay for them) was disappointing.
Breakfast in the Business Lounge is also complimentary but consists only of orange juice, tea/coffee, small croissants/rolls/danish pastries and some ham and cheese. No fruit, cereal, yoghurt or eggs, so somewhat disappointing too. If you want anything more substantial you need to pay for breakfast in the restaurant.
But the room was smart and clean, very quiet, and the massive screen TV with a plethora of channel was much appreciated. An Executive Room with Lounge access is, in my opinion, not much different to a Club Room at the nearby Crowne Plaza, but much cheaper.
Just a couple of minutes walk from Gloucester Green tube station, with Waitrose and Tesco Express adjacent to the station, so the location is excellent with various restaurants too if you don't want to eat in the hotel. "
