Hotels Near Oxford Street, London's busiest shopping street are quite plentiful within a few yards of the famous shops. The vast majority of hotel accommodation is to be found at the western end of Oxford Street at Marble Arch overlooking the north east corner of Hyde Park.

The first thing that should be said is that Oxford Street is just a shopping street, although you are paying the price premium for a very central location. None of the major sights are here and the main theatre and nightlife district is a bus ride away. It should also be stated that Oxford Street is the main shopping street for the mainstream shops, here you will find the flagship stores of most UK retail chains. Specialist and exclusive shopping is focussed elsewhere including the famous Harrods department store which is in Knightsbridge, Kensington.
Around Marble Arch is where you will find most of the hotel accommodation in the streets off the northern side of Oxford Street which runs west to east between Marble Arch and Oxford Circus Underground Stations.
On the north side of Oxford Street at Marble Arch there are a lot of very large 4 star chain hotels only a couple of minutes walk to the shops. Sprinkled in among them are a few budget hotels. You pay a large premium in room rates for hotels here against equivalent accommodation only half a mile away at Paddington. At the slower times of year, the large 4 star hotels at Marble Arch will often discount to more affordable rates.
The streets to the south of Oxford Street lead into Mayfair. Mayfair is a very exclusive area, hotels are some of the most expensive in London including four Marriott properties here.
Going eastwards along Oxford Street the hotel accommodation thins out towards Oxford Circus, the hotels that are available being again on the north side of Oxford Street. On the south side of Oxford Street is Bond Street, one of the most exclusive shopping streets that leads down to the Piccadilly area again with at the exclusive end of the shopping in London.

Oxford Street & Marble Arch - The Right Solution For You?
If you are contemplating staying around Oxford Street you are paying a premium for doing so. The location although central requires a bus or Underground journey to get to the main sights and nearly all theatres, it is the shops along Oxford Street that is on your doorstep, nothing else, although Hyde Park is nice. There are direct airport buses to Luton and Stansted airports from Marble Arch and a 5-10 minute taxi ride to Paddington Station where there are trains to Heathrow, otherwise airport transfers are not great. So if shopping is the main reason for your visit to London this might be the place for you, otherwise you'll probably get a more suitable hotel elsewhere (unless you get a really good deal offered).
