Typical
Customer Reviews
Below are some fairly typical reviews from customers that have stayed
at the Best Western Hotels in Paddington. They are independent viewpoints
and not necessarily the view of this web site.
The Mornington is in a great position by Lancaster Gate and only about
50m to Hyde Park. The Delmere tends to get the best customer feedback,
the Paddington Court the most mixed.
Best Western Paddington Court Hotel
" We are used to US hotels with big rooms, big beds, ice machines
but we knew that London hotels have small rooms and rarely have queen
or larger beds. While it didn't compare to a USA dive like Super 8,
it was barely the equivelant of a Day's Inn. It was clean and pleasantly
decorated but the mattresses were well beyond thier prime, the TV
was microscopic and attached to the wall hospital style and the faucet
dripped. But accomodations alone aren't what make for a good or bad
stay if the service is attentive. Alas, the staff was almost always
harried and distracted. The neighborhood is lively in the day and
quiet at night (except Saturday), safe, and close to transport. We
got really good rates, however, so maybe we got what we paid for.
There seem to be dozens of hotels in the Paddington area, shop around."
"Have just got back from a two nite weekend stay in London with
my boyfriend. The hotel is easy to find, straight down the road from
Paddington station- which is why i booked it.
On arrival we were politely greeted by friendly but foreign staff
with good English. The reception was modern and clean with fresh flowers-
always a good sign. We were checked in quickly and were soon in our
room (103 on the first floor) some people would have been disappointed
with the room as it was very small, although the finishings were good
and for the price, having a 3star hotel in central london, i was presently
pleased with what we had! The bed was small but cosy! The room was
modern with newly fitted compact bathroom- good shower and facilities
but very tight. There were free toiletries which were nice, not cheap
smelling! The big draw back in the bathroom was the towels being so
high up- if you were short, forget it! we had a large plasma tv on
the wall and although the reception wasnt good(quite snowy!)
it was ok enough to watch - mind you, who goes to London for a weekend
to watch tv!!!???!!! Tea and coffee making facilities and a small
fridge- which is perfect as there are quite a few small convenient
stores around the corner to buy milk, juice wine and snacks etc. Couldnt
comment on the food as we didnt eat there but the restaurant
looked ok"

" All you could possibly need for an overnight stay in London.
Rooms are small but immaculate, there is a really comfortable loung
with hsia and breakfast was a much less stressful experience than
in larger hotels which often involves a long wait.
Walking distance from Paddington and a few nice pubs and restaurants
around. It had the feeling of a family run hotel and I felt very secure
too."
"Our room on the 4th floor was compact but as we were only using
it for a base & to sleep for the weekend it was fine. As the room
was an attic room it was extremely hot, resulting in our need to keep
the window open all night & as the hotel is situated on a busy
road with a large hospital around the corner not much sleep was gained
that night. Having said that when we asked for a fan from reception
the following morning one was supplied for a small deposit. The ensuite
was clean & the water pressure in the shower was great. The bar
was tiny and not used, the restaurant only sat 24 people & when
busy the 3 staff struggled to provide a good service for breakfast,
despite being self service. I must say that the receptionist was extremely
helpful & friendly "

"Good points = Location , very close to Hyde Park ..nice quite
area
Breakfast , lots of choice, eat as much as you want
Lobby /bar area, comfortable, quite and relaxing.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Bad
points = Very dirty net curtains in room (very black!)
Tatty furnishings ( chair seat had big rip in it)
Over heated (although you can open windows)
Over
all it was adequte for a couple of nights stay ...would have been
much too hot in summer ..but as it was freezing cold when we stayed
the over heating was not much of a problem. The hotel states a check
in time of 2pm but when we arrived at 3.30pm the room was still not
ready and we had to wait for a further 45 minutes before we could
get into the room. The bathroom was clean and well maintained although
the room itself looked in need of redecoration and replacement of
furnishiings.."
"The hotel rooms are tiny and extremely hot as there is no A/C!
Overall it is servicable but desperate for a refurb. The good news
is the shower was GREAT!"
