Hotels near Waterloo Station and County Hall are slowly becoming more plentiful and reasonably priced. The south bank of the River Thames has only recently started to attract hotels of any sort. The impetus was started by the arrival of the Eurostar trains at Waterloo, (now moved to St Pancras) and establishment of some major visitor attractions like the London Eye, Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre along this after all very central district of London.

There are no really cheap accommodations in this district. The hotels tend to be large chain hotels, predominantly luxury 4 star hotels like Marriott and Park Plaza or 'no frills' budget chain hotels like Premier Inn, Travelodge or Holiday Inn Express.
Opposite Big Ben, on the other side of the river over Westminster Bridge is County Hall itself. Once the home of London's own authority, now it houses the Premier Inn and Marriott County Hall hotels. In the immediate vicinity are several very large 4 star hotels notably two Park Plaza hotels.
The fact that the area has been a late developer as a hotel district is probably not a bad thing. The district doesn't revolve around the needs of tourists like some other areas . Location is very, very good, most hotels are strung along or very near the River Thames. Walk across the River Thames and you are in the heart of London or walk along the south bank of the Thames as far as Tower Bridge, a great and free way to see London.
Because this area is not dependent on leisure visitors, most hotels in the area are much cheaper at the weekends. At the weekends the four star hotels aimed at business people here, often deep discount.

Hotels Around County Hall And Waterloo Station - The Right Solution For You?
If you are looking for a comfortable hotel, very central and are looking for the reassurance of a chain hotel you have heard off this area is a good place to check-out. The district is functional, rather than memorable like perhaps Bloomsbury, but in 5 minutes you can walk across Westminster Bridge to Westminster Abbey and you are in the heart of the main tourist attractions. The district is not the cheapest in London but if you are looking for a good 3 star or 4 star class hotel very central this district should be checked out.
Airport transfers to London's major airports are not the most convenient, but the area is particularly popular for those on cruises out of Dover and Southampton with direct trains from Waterloo.
