Generator Hostel London is an example of cheap hostel accommodation in the very centre of London.

The Generator hostel London is not the only such hostel and it is not the cheapest, but it has built up a reputation and bills itself as the UK's "funkiest" hostel.

For cheaper dormitory style accommodation, look elsewhere or the Piccadilly Backpackers.

Piccadilly is about as central as you can get, more so than the Generator. Much of what you've come to London for is within walking distance here.

A benchmark for the cheapest dormitory accommodation are the London Bayswater Hostels. Bayswater is about 2 kms from Piccadilly and is an area focussed on the budget traveller. There is a local community, so there are pubs, supermarkets and a great range of cheap restaurants at local prices.
The Generator Hostel London has acquired a bit of a reputation and is now sought out by the young. There is other Generator Hostels in Berlin with the same 'party hostel' theme. This is a very large (800 bed) hostel with events put on most nights.

The London Generator Hostel is located in the northern part of Bloomsbury, adjacent to the University of London. The Generator Hostel is equidistant, about 500m from Euston and Russell Square Underground. It is about a 20 minute walk to Covent Garden or Leicester Square, the main areas for nightlife in London. The British Museum is about 10 minutes walk.

The area The Generator is in is quite nice, there is a kind of a village atmosphere with plenty of small local shops and pubs if you want a break from The Generator.
