By Travel Lodge we basically mean a chain, no frills budget hotel. In the UK the benchmark is probably the Travelodge chain which has two travel lodges near Stansted Airport. The other main budget chain, Premier Inn at this moment in time do not have any sites local to Stansted.
The Travelodge options are a fair distance from Stansted Airport itself, despite one being named Travelodge Stansted. The Travelodge Stansted Great Dunmow is about seven miles east of Stansted and is really only suitable for motorists. The Travelodge Stansted Great Dunmow is a new Travelodge about 7 miles east of Stansted Airport.
The hotel is right next to the Dunmow junction of the A120, which is near motorway grade road. Its thus by car, a very fast journey to Stansted Airport a couple of junctions up the road.
The Travelodge Stansted Bishops Stortford opened in 2010 was formerly a Best Western hotel, when you drive up the long driveway through landscaped grounds you'll probably be wondering whether you have the right place.
There is no airport shuttle facility for either hotel, and public transport from either is not realistic. So both Stansted Travelodge sites are only suitable for motorists.

Situated at Birchanger Services on the M11 motorway just at the Stansted Airport turnoff. The Days Inn hotel is the original hotel, and has proven so popular the new Days Hotel has been built to offer more capacity.
The Welcome Break Service Area is just a few yards from the front door of both the Days Hotel and Days Inn Stansted. Food facilities include Burger King, KFC, Eatin and Starbucks. The Starbuck's lounges have FREE wi-fi connectivity.
There is also a small supermarket (Waitrose), WH Smith newsagency and cash machines.
Local public buses including routes 308 and 510 run from Stansted Airport bus station to Bishops Stortford and stop beside the motorway service area at Birchanger. You can walk into the Days Hotel and Days Inn and the service area facilities from the bus stop.
