Notice About Astral Tours |
After
a decade of developing the small group day tour concept using small
minibuses and high quality guides, Astral Tours sadly ceased trading
in October 2007.
To fill the void and satisfy the demand for such tours from London,
an established company, International Friends are providing some of
Astral's most popular tour itineraries for the 2008 season using the
same small 16 seat buses that can visit the places the bigger buses
cannot go, together with high quality guides. |

Oxford
College |
| Enjoy
a walking tour of the cloistered colleges, ancient streets and secluded
gardens of Oxford, ancient city of learning. Your Oxford graduate
guide will entertain you with tales of college life, its famous students
and bring to life its rich history and traditions. |
| Afterwards,
we take the backroads deep into the Cotswolds - a beautiful area of
rolling hills, wooded valleys and unspoilt villages of honey coloured
stone and thatched cottages.
|
| |

Visit
Stow on the Wold with its quaint market square, medieval stocks and
antique shops and the charming villages of the Slaughters.
Traditional rural England at its very best.
|
 |
| We
have time to explore Burford. The distinctive main street in Burford
is long and steep. There is a jumbled juxtaposition of houses and
shops. Grey gabled buildings with lichen encrusted roofs, hotels,
shops, tea rooms and inns. Crooked roof lines, leaning walls, no two
buildings the same.
Our
circular tour of the Cotswolds district also includes a visit to
Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the Venice of the
Cotswolds because the River Windrush runs right through the
centre. The combination of this clear sparkling water and the attractive
low bridges crossing it create a charming scene
Lower Slaughter is just off the Roman Fosse Way and is a wonderfully
conserved typical Cotswolds Village with a
water mill and ducks on the stream. The stream running through the
village is crossed by two small bridges and the local attraction
is a converted mill with original water wheel selling craft type
products. The red brick built corn mill, with its tall chimney and
water wheel, contrast with the rest of the village and it's traditional
Cotswolds stone cottages
Included in the price is a delicious cream tea in historic surroundings
(a traditional fruit scone split with strawberry jam and clotted
cream served with a pot of tea) . Not to be missed!
