London Tours - Private Stratford Upon Avon Example Tour

Most coach tours will just give you time to go around Shakespeare's Birthplace and perhaps a photo stop at Anne Hathaway's Cottage.

Public transport from London can be cumbersome and the places relating to Shakespeare are spread out over a wide area.

Stratford Upon Avon Tour

Stratford Upon Avon is about 2 hours drive from Central London. So traveling is going to take a good chunk of your day.

Your choice is really whether to spend all your time in Stratford or combine it with somewhere else.

Perhaps Blenheim Palace or Warwick Castle or just take in the scenic countryside and villages of the Cotswolds region, just south of Stratford.

Shakespeare's Stratford Upon Avon

The 'must see' is Shakespeare's Birthplace and exhibition in the middle of town.

On the far side of the town centre is Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare is buried. The town itself is also a nice place to loiter with some olde worlde charm and a very nice riverside with extensive parkland and always something going on

A mile or two from the town centre is Anne Hathaway's Cottage and further out is Shakespeare's mother's house, Mary Arden.

Stratford Upon Avon What To Expect

Warwick Castle

Warwick Castle is only about 30 minutes from Stratford. An impressive medieval stronghold, the classic castle. Warwick Castle is owned by the same people who run Madame Tussauds, so the entertainment factor is more prominent than many other more staid castles, particularly attractive for children.

Warwick Castle What To Expect

Oxford, Blenheim and the Cotswolds

Oxford with its cloistered colleges and secluded gardens, Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, the picturesque Cotswolds with gentle hills, delightful villages and thatched cottages of mellowed local stone.
