Tour Transfers To/From Dover Cruises
See Canterbury, Leeds Castle etc. On Your London or Airport Transfer
![]() |
| Canterbury Cathedral |
By far the majority of cruises disembark by about 08:30 at the Dover Cruise Terminals. So why not make your transfer to London or departure airport a tour to remember, rather than a couple of hours along the motorway.
From London, most cruises do not stop boarding until mid/late afternoon so there is plenty of time to fit in some sightseeing on the way down.
Drivers, Guiding & Prices
For couples and small families in private cars we normally use drivers that are not specialist guides. They will be mature, friendly and informative. If you wish we can supply a driver who is a specialist guide for which there is a supplement.
For these kind of stopovers its very crudely around £35 an hour on top of the straight transfer price spent at any place along the way plus any extra time for the diversion from the main route required.
As groups get larger the economics are such that a driver/guide or dedicated guide is only a small supplement per passenger.
We can supply touring buses from 16 seat minibuses to large full size coaches. As you can imagine these transfer tours are very much customised to each group traveling.
The guides and driver/guides we use are dedicated guides and divide their time between private tours and the public scheduled tours from London.
Main Attractions Between London & Dover
The main attractions between Dover and London and its airports that you find in the guide books are laid out for you below with a brief description.
Of course on a private tour its you who decide the itinerary, you are not constrained to these suggestions.
Canterbury
In 597, St Augustine became the first Archbishop of Canterbury, a position that now heads the Church of England and the worldwide Anglican Communion.
Thomas Becket's murder at Canterbury Cathedral in 1170 led to the cathedral becoming a place of pilgrimage for Christians worldwide. This pilgrimage provided the theme for Geoffery Chaucer's 14th-century literary classic the Canterbury Tales.
There is much more to Canterbury than the Cathedral as you can see from the link below.
Leeds Castle

| Leeds Castle |
Often described as the loveliest castle in the world. Leeds Castle is set on two islands and has been home to royalty, lords, and ladies for over 1000 years.
Ideal for a family.
Leeds Castle has an interesting and fascinating history. It dates back to 1119, though a manor house stood on the same site from the 9th century.
Leeds Castle passed into royal hands in 1278 and became part of the Queen of England’s dower - the settlement widowed queens received upon the death of their husbands. Over the course of 150 years it was held by six mediaeval queens: Eleanor of Castile; Margaret of France; Isabella of France, Joan of Navarre; Anne of Bohemia and Catherine de Valois.
In Tudor times Henry VIII visited frequently, notably with his Queen, Catherine of Aragon, and their entire court on the way to the tournament of the Field of the Cloth of Gold, which took place in France in 1520. Henry’s son, King Edward VI, granted the castle to one of Henry’s courtiers for his services.
