Alternatively you can take the Gatwick Express or Southern Trains between Gatwick and London Victoria and the the Luton Airport Green Line bus between Victoria and Luton Airport. The Green Line bus service runs a 24 x 7 schedule so you can get even the earliest flight out of Luton.
Victoria is close to Buckingham Palace and Big Ben and a more upscale hotel area.
There are left luggage facilities at St Pancras and Victoria rail stations and also at Victoria Coach Station.
The left luggage office at Victoria coach station is slightly cheaper than at the rail stations.
Accommodation
If you want to stay overnight, the most convenient hotel districts would be Victoria or Kings Cross.
