London licensed taxis are available from outside each terminal at Heathrow for travel within the London area. To ensure there are adequate taxis to meet demand, a computer system is used to control the flow of vehicles to the forecourts.
It is a very professionally run operation with none of the scams sometimes found elsewhere.

The black taxi cabs are metered, the exact fare calculation is very complex combining time and distance taken with the day and time of the day travelled.
We would advise parties of up to 3 to use these black cabs for peace of mind.

Your alternative are pre-ordered private hire options, this option is not available 'on demand' at Heathrow.

The London Taxi cab is licensed to carry up to 5 people. However with 5 people there is very limited luggage capacity, in most cases around 3 suitcases.

Fares are metered and will vary according to destination, time of day travelling and time taken. Fares are normally £45 - £65.

  • Transfer must be booked at least 24 hours in advance of travel date.
  • Each traveler is allowed maximum 1 medium suitcase and 1 piece of hand luggage.
  • Child prices are not applicable. Adult prices apply to all travelers
  • The driver will be waiting by the information desk holding a sign your name 30 minutes after the flight has landed. For european and local flights the driver will be by the information desk 15 minutes after the flight has landed. He will then wait a further 1 hour before waiting charges are applied or he leaves the airport.
  • A freephone number is provided where you can contact the taxi company if problems are experienced in the customs hall causing a highly unusually lengthy transit though customs.
  • Transfer is one way, non-stop.
Important notice about luggage
If you are from North America the size of the boots (trunks) are much smaller than you are used to. When we say 1 medium size suitcase per person and one hand luggage thats what we mean - medium size = 20" max length or 20 kg.
A last minute upgrade in car to accommodate luggage will incur significant expense. If you are in doubt use our Heathrow-Central London minibus service that has plenty of luggage space
