Train To Hampton Court
The most direct option to Hampton Court is by rail from London's Waterloo Station. A commuter service makes many stops before finally terminating at Hampton Court Station - the end of the line.

You simply have to cross the River Thames by Hampton Court Bridge and you're there. Trains run generally every 30 minutes.

Richmond to Hampton Court Bus

Underground + Bus or Boat
Waterloo Station isn't the most convenient
place for most London accommodation.

One attractive alternative is to get the District Line out to Richmond on Thames, the end of the line. Then get a bus or better still a boat to Hampton Court.

Richmond is in Zone 4 of the Underground charging districts.
The bus to Hampton Court stops in front of the Underground Station. The route is R68 and terminates at Hampton Court station..
For boat options see below

Hampton Court by River Transport
The nicest way to visit Hampton Court is by river launch. As the river services make several stops along the way with connections back into Central London, you can choose how long you want on the river.
Westminster-Kew-Hampton Court- Richmond-Hampton Court
From April to October there are at least two services a day for the three to three and a half hour trip out to Hampton Court from Westminster. The service stops at many stops including Kew Gardens, Richmond and Kingston (the later are major suburban shopping centres). If you require a full day at Hampton Court Palace its probably best to get the underground out to Richmond then catch additional services that run for the one hour trip onto Hampton Court.
If you have a Travelcard you can get a 33% discount on scheduled boats to Hampton Court. Check out the boats yourself.
Details of all the services can be downloaded in the Thames River Services Web Site.

Hampton Court & Windsor Interconnection
It is possible to combine Hampton Court & Windsor in one day - many of the organised tours do. Details of getting to Hampton Court from London are covered above, from London to Windsor at our Windsor Pages.

To travel between Windsor and Hampton Court - the quickest way is by train.
From both Hampton Court and Windsor (Riverside) the trains run to London Waterloo. They meet at Clapham Junction.
Both services run about every 30 minutes. Allowing 15 minutes for the interchange at Clapham Junction the journey should take less than 90 minutes.

However, although technically feasible to do, we do not advise both Hampton Court and Windsor in one day. Time will be your enemy, your enjoyment will probably be spoilt constantly checking your watch and cutting short things you really want to see.
