Lacock By Public Transport
Lacock is in not one of the most populated areas in Southern England. As such, getting there by public transport is not ideal but doable if not time consuming.
The public transport lifeline to Lacock is the 234 bus that runs to Lacock from Chippenham on its way to Frome, the journey time is about 15 minutes. The bus stop in the village is by the George Inn, (see image right).
Frequencies are broadly hourly, Monday to Saturday only.
Chippenham Railway Station has fast links to London Paddington. Trains are one or two an hour taking about 75 minutes.
In the opposite direction the trains go onto Bath about 15 minutes away.
There are also local buses operating between Chippenham and Bath.
National Express run cheaper coaches to and from London from Chippenham but these take around 3 hours. Like the trains these coaches go to and originate from Bath, 30 minutes away.

Lacock By Tour Bus
At the moment, part of the charm of Lacock is that it is not overrun by tour bus crowds. There are no large coach tours that come to Lacock on a daily basis.
Tours are available but there are severe limitations. None of the scheduled tour operators will stay at Lacock longer than an hour, if your main aim is to visit Lacock Abbey, perhaps inspired by its use as a Harry Potter film location you will not have time to do this.
Tours at the moment either give you free time to walk around the village or are focused as a pub lunch stop at the George Inn.
Except for Premium Tours tour that visits Lacock as a pub stop after a special access visit to Stonehenge, 16 seat small minibuses will be used.
Mad Max Tours run a regular day tour starting at Bath that visits Stonehenge and Castle Coombe as well as Lacock.
International Friends run a minibus tour that runs at least once weekly from London that visits Lacock, Bath and Stonehenge.
