Private Day Tours

London can be expensive, but there is much to do and see that is both world class and free. This page attempts to put you on the track of such activities.
Unfortunately as they're free they don't get the heavy marketing to bring them to your attention, that commercial attractions do.

Probably number one thing to do for free is to visit a museum or art gallery. All the major art galleries and museums in London are free, though you might feel heavily leant on to make a voluntary contribution. If you're vaguely interested in the subject matter you can spend easily a day or more in just one of the museums.

Its worth checking out the official web sites of the museums and art galleries, (we have the links on our museums and art gallery pages - see menu left). There are often workshops and talks scheduled, though special exhibitions normally have an entrance fee.

London is a very walkable city and its surprising how much you can cover by walking in a day. We have laid out for you a series of self guided walks that you can adapt to your own taste that between them cover most of what is worthwhile in London.
You'll also make your own discoveries this way.

London is so historic, there is something of interest around almost every corner and away from the tourist honeypots you'll probably meet characters, visit places not in the guide books and experience happenings that you'll remember with as much affection as the things that originally drew you to London.

We have a London Icons walks, that covers most of the main tourist draws clustered together within a mile of Westminster.
We also have a City Of London Walk, the original walled city of London. Its a great place to explore down the alleys of the old city, the interesting churches not in the guide books as well as see some of the major visitor attractions like the Tower of London and St Paul's Cathedral.

We also have walks covering Kensington to the west of the centre and a themed shopping walk taking you through all the various shopping districts.

This walk as its title suggests, covers many of the major blockbuster reasons that draws first time visitors to London. The major sights that you must bring back a picture of.

The London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, 10 Down Street, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guard are all within a very compact area.

We show you how to link these together into a memorable first day in London and many other fascinating places as well.

As well as the sights, St James Park is a great place for a breather and some rest and recreation.

The Royal Parks are also a great free asset. There is always something of interest happening in the Royal parks ranging from the banter of speaker's corner to simple pleasures like feeding the ducks in the lakes.

One of the experiences of the UK that is free is to attend a trial. The Old Bailley is where the main criminal trials take place and the public are allowed to view the trials from the public gallery.

London is also a great place for people watching. Covent Garden in the theatre district is one of the prime places to chill out and watch the world go by.
