With the notable exception of the Windsor Travelodge, accommodation in Windsor Town itself can be a bit on the pricey side.

Heathrow Airport is handily close to Windsor with a choice of public transport links to Windsor itself.
Room rates at Heathrow are particularly attractive at weekends when there is a surplus of rooms .

starts from Terminal 5. The number 77 bus to Windsor Castle passes the Quality Hotel Heathrow and the Marriott Windsor and the Sofitel Heathrow is linked to Terminal 5.
There are free local buses that go along the Bath Road to Terminal 5, passing the Sheraton Park, Thistle, Holiday Inn (Bath Road), Park Inn, Renaissance, Heathrow Lodge, Radisson and Marriott and From Terminal 4 where the Hilton is.

All other hotels have at least Hoppa Buses that will take you to Terminal 5 for a charge.

The buses run until late and are useful also for visiting Runnymede or the Royal Farm Shop outside of Windsor. The Green Line Bus also stops outside the Marriott Windsor on its way to Legoland Windsor.
The 71 and 77 buses stop right outside Windsor Castle, but they do not terminate there.
The 71 bus although taking slightly longer takes a more scenic route and approaches Windsor from the south stopping in Old Windsor. You can use the 71 bus to visit Runnymede, where the signing of the Magna Carta took place and the Queen's Farm shop.

The 60/61 bus goes to Eton on the other side of the river to Windsor. It stops at both Eton College and the bridge over the River Thames into Windsor from Eton.
