We are cruising with Royal Carribean on the Navigator of the Seas from Southampton sailing Friday 28th October returning November 10th
We will be staying at the Strand Palace Hotel in London
Kindly advise cruise shuttle service arrangements and fares for 2 adults.

We stay at La Suite West hotel in 41-51 Inverness Terrace, London W2 3JN and need to go to Dover Cruise Terminal for ship Seabourn Quest on August 20, 2016. Unfortunately, the hotel is not on the pickup list.

    • Bob

The closest pick-up to you is the Hilton Hyde Park by queensway Underground Station

We will be disembarking from MSC cruise on 9/21 and would like to take the Stonehenge, Salisbury, Windsor tour and we have an early flight out of Gatwick the following morning. Which area is the best place to book a hotel (no more plans of sightseeing after drop-off, just rest) and will it be easy to get an Uber for 5 passengers?

    • Bob

Gatwick is about 30 miles south of London and the road links are such that hardly anyone goes by car from Central London – its at least twice as quick and more comfortable to take the train.

If all you want to do is hit the hotel and make for the airport the next day I’d suggest you opt for a Heathrow Airport hotel as your drop off on the tour and get the transfer to Gatwick in the morning.
Uber is fine but other companies are available that may offer a better deal

Alternatively leave the tour at the Grosvenor Hotel London which is part of Victoria Railway Station and get the Gatwick Express train to Gatwick Airport and overnight at a Gatwick Hotel or find a hotel around Victoria Station and get the train down in the morning

We are arriving Heathrow 7am, 12August2016, Will there be any Heathrow to Southampton buses via Stonehege on that day? If so, what time bus is recommended to process through formalities and which pickup hotel or terminal would be advisable? We will be going to Ocean Terminal Southampton and staying by a nearby hotel not far from the terminal for a few days.

Also are there any buses that do Stonehege/ Windsor round trip from Southampton as an option?

    • Bob

The direct van shuttle does pick-ups at Heathrow Hotels (not passenger terminals around 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m).
If you are using Terminals 4 or 5 the Hiltom Terminal 4 and the Sofitel are attached to Terminals 4 or 5 respectively, if you are using Terminals 2 or 3 you will need a hotel transfer bus which are not complementary

Having said that from a flght I would suggest you simply book a private car and driver.
Unless you have lots and lots of lugage for 2 people its going to be about the same price overall as the van shuttle and the driver will meet and greet you as you exit the customs and luggage hall.
The diver also monitors your flight and will adjust arrival time accordingly.
In August, flights from the Eastern Seaboard Cities of North America are often delayed

Regrdrs the reverse direction, there is a touring coach tour transfer that leaves the cruise terminal around 8:30 a.m. and visits Salisbury, Stonehenge and Windsor before doing hotel and terminal drops around 5 p.m. and Central London hotels around 6 p.m.

Thanks for your reply Bob. We are arriving to stay a few days before departing by ship from Southampton. What we wanted to know were there alternatives in seeing Stonehege as well as other sights either on the way to Southampton or after we arrive in Southampton aside from private hires. Are there any organized, regular scheduled bus tours from Southampton returning back to Southampton round trip? We know of the ones going one way from Southampton to London doing the sight seeing routes.

        • Bob

Southampton is primarily a commercial port and regional shopping hub so there is hardly anything in terms of orgainsed tours from Southampton itself.

However, Southampton is a regional train hub and there are frequent trains to very nice places to visit including major tourist places like Salisbury, Bath, Winchester and Portsmouth

A Hop On Hop Off service runs between Salisbury Railway Station and Stonehenge

          • Ray

Again thank you for your informative reply Bob. Can one do a walk up to purchase a train ticket at the Southampton station or is it advisable to pre-purchase a train ticket to Salisbury? Also the same question for the Hop-on, Hop-off at Salisbury?

          • Bob

There are no seat reservations on the trains so from getting a seat perspective it makes no difference.

For one of the longer journeys like Bath it might be worth looking in advance to see if there are any advance purchase discounted fares

Please use the train journey planner at the url below for schedules, fares and

We would like to take the tour of Salisbury, Windsor Castle and Stonehenge from Southampton to Central London on Sept 3 , 2016 when we disembark from the Celebrity Eclipse. Our hotel, the Nadler Soho is not on the list. What is the best place for the drop off and how far is that from the hotel? Thank you.

    • Bob

The Marriott London Edition on Berner Street is about 300 yards from your hotel on the other side of Oxford Street

Put that you are staying at the Nadler Soho in the notes section on reservation and tell the driver & guide on the day and the vehicle will probably be able to drop you closer

    • Bob

There is no coach tour transfer available to you on August 16

We are on the Emerald Princess and disembark Saturday, July 9 at 7:00 am. Our flight from Heathrow departs at 2:25 pm. Is this tour available on the return transfer?

    • Bob

The direct shuttle will be fine.

  • Chan McCullough

Any recommendation for a substitute service?

    • Bob

I am not aware of anybody else who offers a shared sightseeing option on the transfer down to Southampton

  • Chan McCullough

I am online trying to book the shuttle for July 2, but that date does not seem to be available for the Stonehenge shuttle, but is available for a shuttle without the Stonehenge stop. Is that really the case?

    • Bob

Yes the coach via Stonehenge is sold out for next Saturday

  • Chan McCullough

Thanks. The closest I found on my own was the Amba and that was going to be quite a hike, or even a cab ride.
