Overview
Hotels in the Paddington area are very competitive when compared to hotel options less than a mile away within the Oxford Street area.
This area has a good mix of accommodation catering to all budgets. Around Paddington Station, you can expect the hustle and bustle of city life, as it is a major transport hub in London.
As you move slightly further out into Paddington, things become quieter, more elegant and residential. Paddington is most popular with travellers from Heathrow Airport due to the speed and ease of transfer from plane to hotel.

Location
Paddington is well positioned for travel inside London and transfers to Heathrow Airport. Paddington is in the north-western corner of the centre of London which makes the room rates here quite competitive. The benefit here is that Paddington offers accommodation types for all budgets, something you will be unable to find as you get closer to the centre of London.
Landmarks and attractions nearby

Hyde Park is a 10-min walk from most hotels and it is possible to walk to Oxford Street in 15-mins. Paddington itself does not boast major attractions and is mostly used as a base to explore from, rather than explore within.

Guide prices for Paddington accommodation
Prices are lower when compared to more central districts which are less than half a mile away. On average, you can expect to pay between £50-£100 for a budget bed & breakfast hotel in Paddington. 2-3-star mid-range hotels range between £100-150 while 4-5-star full-service luxury hotels start at £140 per night.
Seasonality
Paddington is popular all year round but due to the vast amount of accommodation on offer in the area, prices remain very competitive.
As the main gateway to London from Heathrow the period between April and November is more expensive than the winter months.
You could choose Paddington because…
Paddington is attractive to those flying into Heathrow Airport using the Heathrow Express train or arriving from the west of England & Wales by train, where Paddington is the London terminus for both.
Paddington is not an area that boasts lots of attractions, although Hyde Park is a short walk from most hotels. It is, however, an excellent base to explore London from. It has excellent transport links, so you should be able to get to most attractions within about 20-min by Underground.
Alternative options nearby
We recommend considering Kensington or Bayswater just to the west of Paddington, for slightly cheaper room rates. Check nearby backpacker hostels too.
