Three separate 24 hour airport bus services operate between Central London and Luton Airport offering the cheapest airport transfer between Central London and Luton Airport.
Two coach operators National Express and Green Line both run an airport bus service between London Victoria and Luton Airport with the same major pick-up points. In Central London, Marble Arch and Baker Street. are the main pick-up points in addition to Victoria.
The third London - Luton Airport coach service is operated by National Express between Paddington Station and Luton Airport and stops at Baker Street.
Luton Airport is locatd about 35 miles (56 kms) north from the centre of London.
Both National Express and Green Line operate a 24 x 7 service between Luton Airport and London with frequencies of about every 15-30 minutes.
The core route of both National Express and Green Line is between London Victoria Coach Station and Luton Airport both with major stops in Central London at Marble Arch and Baker Street.
At Victoria, National Express terminate at Victoria Coach Station whilst Green Line terminate at the Green Line coach station opposite. Both are within 5 minutes walk of Victoria Underground and Railway Stations.
At Luton Airport all coaches terminate in a bus/coach station immediately outside the front door of Luton airport's passenger terminal.
National Express also run a service to London's Paddington Station, handy if you are staying in the Bayswater or Paddington hotel districts or arriving by train from the west of the country.
National Express Luton Airport services stop at Golders Green Underground Station in the northern suburbs of London. Golders Green is close to where the airport bus joins the motorway to Luton. This has potential to avoid traffic congestion in Central London, using the Northern Line of the Underground to escape such delays. Green Line stop at Brent Cross, but the stop is not close to Brent Cross Underground Station.
Both National Express and Green Line use air-conditioned non-smoking coaches with free WiFi and charging points.
National Express have a very dynamic pricing model and can have cheaper fares. The earlier you book the cheaper the fare. Don't expect the cheapest National Express fares purchasing a couple of days in advance.
The cheapest fares with National Express are non-flexilible, you book a specific schedule which you are expected to travel on. If you want flexibility you pay a higher price for a flexible ticket. For Luton Airport arrivals you can pay a supplement to add flexibility to the cheap fare which covers you if your flight is late.
Green Line do not have the cheaper restricted fare,just a flexible fare. Take the first bus, subject to seat availability.
On National Express the child fare age-band is 5 to 15 year old. On Green Line it is 5 to 12 years old.
National Express have a small booking fee (per booking, not ticket). Green Line do not.
National Express have a wider range of payment platforms than Green Line who are restricted to Visa / MasterCard.
National Express support true mobile tickets, m-tickets (in addition to e-mailed printable tickets) which you show to the driver when boarding the bus on your mobile device. Green Line you have to print your ticket out and show the driver.
Green Line have the most flexible luggage allowance with no set policy. National Express allow two large bags per person neither of which should weigh more than 20kg and one small piece of hand luggage like a laptop or handbag.
All National Express coaches are equipped with toilet and wash-room facilities. Power sockets or USB ports are on all vehicles and free wifi is available on most services.
Coaches are operated with a single driver. On boarding you will present your ticket and hold luggage to the driver by the coach. The driver will load your hold luggage into the luggage bay and you board the coach with hand luggage. Seating is not allocated, seats are taken on a fisrt come, first serve basis although it is possible to pay a supplement for front seats.
For each person you are allowed to take one or two medium sized suitcases or rucksacks (no more than 20kg per item) free of charge and one small piece of soft hand luggage. Alternatively, you may take 1 large item (no more than 20kg) and one small piece of hand luggage
Hold luggage maximum sizes defined as: Medium case: 70cm x 30cm x 45cm; Large case: 75cm x 50cm x 32cm
An item of soft hand luggage taken into the passenger cabin must be able to be placed under the seat in front of passengers or in an overhead locker. With the exception of briefcases, no hard-shelled cases, wheeled bags or hard-framed rucksacks/backpacks are permitted on board for safety reasons and must be stowed with hold luggage. You will not incur an additional charge for this.
Soft hand luggage maximum size: 45cm x 35cm x 20cm
Excess luggage can be taken for which there is a charge. You can reduce this cost by 20% if your excess luggage is pre booked on-line. If there is a group of you travelling on the same ticket, then its ok to pool the luggage between you all to help prevent a surcharge.
The drivers load and unload the luggage into the hold directly from yourself, immediately prior to boarding, you do not check-in the luggage prior.
Foldable pushchairs and foldable bicycles are all accepted in addition to the allowance however that is providing there is enough space in the hold. Lightweight manual wheelchairs and mobility scooters (under 20kg) are also accepted but prior arrangements are needed (at least 36 hours ahead of travel).
The cheapest fares are on-line direct on the National Express web-site. E-tickets are sent to you by e-mail immediately after payment.
When you buy a National Express ticket it is for a specific journey. Prices are dynamic, where different schedules may have different prices and the fares for the same journey are often cheaper the farther you purchase in advance.
National Express fares will vary according to demand and how far you book in advance. Generally, the lower the demand and the earlier the booking takes place, the cheaper the fare will be.
The National Express website charges a small booking fee per transaction, not ticket. The coach stations and travel agents also charge a much larger booking fee. Just like the airlines the cheapest fares offer no flexibility, flexible fare types are available with a price premium.
Payment on-line can be performed using Visa, Visa Debit/Delta, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Mastercard Debit, Maestro and Solo cards. Amazon Pay and PayPal are also supported.
Child fares are for the ageband 5 to 15 years and seniors fares are for those 60+
Tickets are not allocated a seat number, you select your seat on boarding on a first come first served basis. Subject to availability you can reserve the front seats of the coach for a supplement.
If you have a non-flexible ticket and are boarding at an airport you can pay a supplement that gives you flexibility to board a later coach if your flight is late.

Compared to National Express the Green Line 757 Luton Airport bus service is simpler with regards terms and conditions.
With Green Line the fare is a flat fare the same price whenever you buy in advance on-line. However you may get a better fare with National Express, especially if you book some way in advance.
Unlike National Express, Green Line have one fare type that is totally flexible. Just board the first bus, subject to seat availability.
Similarly Green Line has no strict luggage policy unlike National Express. Although with the luggage allowance of National Express being two hold luggage of up to 20kg it is probably not going to be significant for the typical passenger using Luton Airport.

Luton Airport to London trains are the fastest way of transferring between Luton Airport and Central London.
Serving five stations in London (St Pancras, Farringdon, City Thameslink, Blackfriars and London Bridge), journey times of 35 to 65 minutes are scheduled depending on which London station you use.
On paper the Luton Airport trains are the fastest Luton airport transfer. But, most visitors to London will be probably have their London accommodation some way from the the Luton Airport train stations as the line runs primarily through the business districts of London.
A key piece of information about this Luton to London journey by rail is that Luton Airport itself has no railway station. The nearest railway station to Luton Airport is called Luton Parkway Station about 10 minutes from Luton Airport passenger terminals. A shuttle bus runs between Luton Airports passenger terminal and Parkway Station.
