There is a good mix of chains hotels in Kensington, like Ibis, Premier Inn, Holiday Inn, Best Western as well as some good independents.
Nearly all the mid-range hotels are in the area of Earl's Court and Gloucester Road Underground Stations. Room rates are very competitive with other districts and unlike other areas there is no dramatic variance in prices between the working week and weekends.
If you are arriving into London via Heathrow then Kensington is the most convenient hotel district to consider. The main road from Heathrow goes through the heart of Kensington, as does the cheap and frequent Underground link direct to Heathrow every 5-minutes. The Piccadilly Line of the Underground also runs 24/7 at weekends from Heathrow through Kensington.
Kensington has a lot to offer. The Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria & Albert museum are all here. Knightsbridge, home of Harrods has some world renowned shopping stores and the Kensington area itself offers a range of accommodation types to suit all budgets.
You will find that most hotels are located close to restaurants, coffe shops, ATM's, pubs and convenience stores so you do not need to rely on your hotel completely for these provisions. Unusually there are some large supermarkets available too, not the smaller convenience stores found in most other hotel areas. You'll find a Tesco at Earl's Court, a Waitrose by Gloucester Road Underground and another along the Kensington High Street.
On average mid-range hotels in Kensington cost between £85-130 per night. As there is a wide range of bed and breakfast and mid-range hotels available in Kensington, it pays to check both sectors to find the best hotel for your needs. We also recommend investigating our luxury 4-5-star hotels available in Kensington as often they have deals at certain times of the year or at weekends. Sometimes you can stay in a luxury hotel for the same cost as a higher priced mid-range hotel.
If you are flying into Heathrow Airport then Kensington as the closest Central London hotel area is a good choice. It's a great base for exploration of London with its own attractions too.
The area is mostly geared towards the leisure traveller with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores.
