Go City London Explorer Pass to save on sightseeing tour

Save up to 50% on London's attractions, similar to London Pass, but is it a better London sightseeing option for you?

The Go City London Explorer Pass
The London Explorer Pass gives you 60 days to visit the best of London

Go City London Explorer Pass is an app that helps your save £££'s on your London attraction exploring, with over 90 London tours and attractions to choose from.

The London Explorer Pass is one of two passes run by Go City: the other is the long long-established market leading London visitor pass the London Pass (called the 'All-Inclusive Pass').

The All-inclusive Pass which allows you to visit as many attractions as you want in one or up to ten days, while the Explorer pass, is a bit cheaper and which allows you to visit by number of attractions spread over 60 days.

The reason you might seriously want to consider purchasing one of these passes is that you can save up to 50% against walk-up ticket prices. This is the maximum you can save - the greater the number of attractions on your pass, the greater the savings.

In addition to these savings, look out for Go City London Explorer Pass 10% sales during the year, (usually in the spring before prices go up in April and again sometimes in the autumn).

All passes are received digitally to your phone - no paper passes. Once you arrive in London, all you've got to do is show your pass at each attraction.

Go City Explorer flash sales

During the year (typically spring and autumn) there are occasionally flash sales offering up to 10% on the price of the pass.

The 10% is usually offered on all passes and requires a promo code which is clearly shown at the top of their website when you click through using the banner below.

These sales run fairly regularly. Like our Facebook page to be kept up to date on these flash sales. When a Go City Explorer flash sale is running our Facebook page will direct you here, you then just need to use the link on this page to access the sale prices.

London Explorer Pass/All-Inclusive London Pass - the main differences

The main differences between the London (All-Inclusive) Pass and the London Explorer Pass are:

  • Each pass has over 90 attractions to choose from, both with top-tier attractions available. However, it is worth knowing that some attractions are available on both passes and some are only available on one or the other of the passes.

  • The London Pass gives you entry to as many attractions as you can visit in a choice of 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 or 10 days

  • The London Explorer Pass is valid for 60 days and you can choose to enter either 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 attractions in that time

  • The London Pass has a transport option, a public transport pass (Visitors Oyster Card).

London Explorer Pass - what attractions are covered?

Tower of London included with London Explorer Pass
Tower of London included with London Explorer Pass

The Go City London Explorer Pass has over 90 leading London attractions to choose from.

Many of London's most popular paid for visitor attractions are all free with the London Explorer Pass - London Eye, the Tower of London, Chessington World of Adventures, St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, View from the Shard, City Cruises Thames River Pass, London Zoo, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, Big Bus hop on bus, Tower Bridge, London Bridge Experience, Royal Observatory Greenwich, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, football stadium tours, and Kew Gardens - plus dozens more.

Popular attractions on the Explorer Pass that are not available on the All-inclusive London Pass

Some popular attractions only available on the Explorer Pass and not the All-inclusive pass include:

LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, SEA LIFE, City Cruises Thames River cruises, Up at The O2, London Dungeon, and Shrek's Adventure! London.

Popular attractions on the All-inclusive Pass that are not available on the Explorer Pass

Some Merlin attractions have in recent years made it onto the Explorer Pass list, but not Madame Tussauds which is available on the London Pass only. Windsor Castle is currently also only available on the All-inclusive pass.

A full current list of the attractions are on the main London Explorer Pass website. When you are comparing your short list of attractions do make sure you are comparing like with like.

Many of the attractions have an array of ticket options, commonly a standard walk-up ticket and a fast track or skip the line option among them.

Will I save money with Go City Explorer Pass?

If the attractions within the London Explorer Pass are some of those on your “must-see list” then the London Explorer Pass is probably well worth pursuing financially.

The headline grabbing saving amount is up to 50% against walk-up prices.

Save another 10% during sale periods

You will save another 10% on top if you purchase during a sale period (often just before the summer season kicks off in May).

Biggest savings made with higher value passes

Clearly, you are going to save more on the more expensive attractions (London Zoo, Up at the O2, View from the Shard...) than with some of the cheaper attractions such as the City Cruises River Cruise.

The more attractions you see, the more you will save. The 50% saving is what you would save based on purchasing a 7 attraction or credit pass. If you are purchasing a 2 credit pass you are likely to save only a couple of pounds and therefore it might not be worth your bother sorting it out.

On Go City's 'sample itinerary' they show how a 5 attraction pass will save you around 33% compared with booking separately.

The real savings start to come from the 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 attraction passes; especially if buying multiple passes for several members of a group.

Save a further 5% on London Explorer Pass purchase

If you sign up to receive regular email updates from Go City you are eligible to receive a 5% discount on your London Explorer Pass purchase. The option to sign up is right underneath the checkout point, once you have selected your pass.

The London Pass alternative - a digital credits package for 90+ sites across London

  • The London Pass is a flat rate sightseeing pass to many (but not all) of London's main attractions. You can buy a London Pass for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 10 day durations. You can only visit each attraction once.
  • It gives you entry into over 90 London tourist attractions and access for one day on a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour plus a river cruise on the River Thames which for many is a highlight of their trip.
  • You pay in advance and it's the same standard price no matter how many attractions you visit in those days.
  • The more attractions you visit under the scheme, the more money you save.
  • You need to pre-book your entry into most attractions, to secure a time slot in advance.
  • You can also opt to have a public transport pass, called a Visitor Oyster Card to get you around London.
  • You can have the London Pass sent straight to your smartphone (iOS and Android) and have your passes instantly at your fingertips.

The London Pass with Visitor Oyster Card

Windsor Castle with London Pass

Crudely speaking the Visitor Oyster Card comes preloaded with enough cash to cover unlimited travel on public transport in the centre of London (zones 1 and 2) for the number of days you have purchased.

If you travel outside central London (zones 1 and 2), perhaps to Hampton Court or Heathrow Airport you may have to top up the Oyster Card with more cash, which is very easy to do at any Underground station.

It may be cheaper to buy a standard Oyster Card on arrival in London separately to the London Pass. The Visitors Oyster Card comes with a non-refundable administration fee, the standard Oyster has a deposit that is refundable.

If you are staying in London more than 5 days, normally it will be cheaper to load a 7 day Travelcard onto the Oyster - this is only possible on the standard Oyster, not the Visitors Oyster Card that comes with the London Pass.

Full details are on our Oyster Card page.

Note Children: Children under 11 travel free on buses and the Underground in London without a ticket (but not on the train to Windsor or Hampton Court).

Children (11-15 year olds) get a child off-peak Travelcard with the London Pass transport package, not an Oyster, you can use the Travelcard on the same public transport as the Oyster. Off-peak means you cannot travel before 9.30am. Monday to Friday.
