| There
are no large multinational chains in Dover, just a Ramada Hotel with
a relatively small hotel at the entrance to Dover. The Ramada is perhaps
the most popular accommodation for cruise passengers. |
|
|
The
Ramada is not in the town itself and its a 10 minute taxi ride to
the cruise terminal on the other side of town. There is a very large
Tesco supermarket within a short stroll and a few catering outlets
aimed at passing motorists.
In the town itself St Alban's Guest House, a very small family run
establishment is conveniently situated by Dover Priory Station. If
you're travelling down by train this is a very convenient option.
The taxi rank by the station will soon get you to and from the cruise
terminal and the town centre with its shopping area is a 5 minute
walk. You can walk up to the Castle or take a bus up the steep hill
to the main visitor attraction.
From Dover Priory Station there are also frequent trains to Canterbury.
Blakes of Dover is another town centre option, very close to the National
Express town centre bus stop for coaches from London.
This is a wine bar specialising in locally caught fish and has won
awards for its food and ales.
Dover has a small beach and promenade in front of the town centre.
Here you will find the Churchill Hotel with direct views of the cruise
terminal and ferries. |
