4-star Kensington Hotels are located just to the west of the centre of London. Notable attractions within Kensington include Harrods department store, Kensington Palace and the South Kensington Museums.
Most of the familiar global multinational chains have hotels here, and there is also a good choice of more individual independent hotels too. Kensington is a luxury area as far as hotels are concerned, you can expect a high quality of service and facilities usually in an excellent location for attractions, shopping and for access to central London.
The further east you go the more expensive and plush the hotels are in Kensington. At the eastern extremity is Knightsbridge and Harrods and some of the most expensive hotels in London. The tourist class mid-range hotels tend to be around the Gloucester Road and Earls Court areas of Kensington.
Most of these hotels border the Cromwell Road which leads out of Central London to Heathrow Airport, so it's particularly attractive if you are using that airport. The Underground line also follows this road artery with stations at Earl's Court, Gloucester Road, South Kensington and Knightsbridge.
The Kensington district is attractive if you want a nice full service hotel in London, perhaps with the reassurance of a global hotel brand, without paying the large price premium for staying more central. Kensington is often the cheapest of the luxury chains hotel offerings in London.
Kensington is an attractive district in which to stay. It has excellent links to Heathrow for transfers and has some iconic shopping as well as museums on it's doorsteps. Prices for the luxury hotels in Kensington do therefore reflect this, you can expect to see rooms from £115 upwards in the luxury hotels in Kensington. You may be able to find cheaper rates during the week as Kensington is a popular tourist area for weekend breaks. As it is to the west of the centre of London, Kensington is slightly cheaper and offers good value when compared with Bloomsbury hotels or hotels in Mayfair, the West End or Leicester Square.
