Bayswater Hotels on the northern border of Hyde Park are renowned as a district for budget hotels in Central London.
The Bayswater area, of which Queensway, (the main shopping street where the two Underground stations are located) offers a very wide choice of affordable hotel accommodation coupled with budget restaurant options, supermarkets and such things as launderettes.

Of the Bayswater hotels there are very few chain hotels with household names in the Bayswater and Queensway area, nearly all are independent hotels.
On this page we look at budget hotels, typically with rooms available from £65 to £110 each night. Many of the hotels have been classified with star ratings but this can be misleading. Remember, stars reflect the facilities a hotel offers, not how good it is.
The three star properties crudely means that they will have a restaurant and/or bar. We have a separate page of cheap Bayswater Bed & Breakfast hotels.
There are few purpose built hotels, most are 5 or 6 storey Victorian terraced houses which when built were grand family homes including room for servants converted to being a hotel. The Central Park Hotel pictured is one of the exceptions to this broad rule.
The larger hotels often are several of these houses joined together, some may not have lifts/escalators.
In terms of environment, location and facilities Bayswater is arguably a top choice in London for the budget traveller.
Bayswater is very much aimed at the leisure traveller on a budget, this is not a district you see a lot of businessmen. This is also one of the few major hotel districts in London where there is a sizable local population, with many shops and services aimed as much at these as the tourists.

Bayswater Budget Hotels - The Right Solution For You?
Bayswater has some of the cheapest accommodation in the centre of London during the working week, however at weekends room rates will often rise dramatically. At weekends an alternative is at Earls Court. The Waterloo/County Hall district and the City Of London are the reverse of Bayswater, these districts are dominated by the business market and are much cheaper at the weekend than the working week.
Bayswater is geared to the budget traveller's needs with plenty of cheap places to eat, things like launderettes and a full size supermarket. If low cost is important, check this district out.
