Fares
For the vast majority of travellers from Central London the Eurostar trains is the sensible option.
Fares are priced like the low cost airlines model. If you purchase last thing or at very popular times you can pay 3 or 4 times the amount somebody seated next to you who purchased well in advance. (Use the Eurostar fares interogator facility above for your dates)

Alternatives To Eurostar Train
The alternatives to Eurostar by public transport are by air and bus.
Flying will normally be slower than by train when you factor in transfers to and from the airports concerned.

The cheapest option is by Eurolines coaches, they are cheap but will take up most of the day or night to complete the journey
Easyjet
easyjet fly out of London's Luton airport to Paris CDG several times a day. This is normally the cheapest air option to Paris.
British Airways and Air France also fly to CDG from Heathrow and Air France fly to Orly airport from London City.

In a minority of occasions it can be cheaper to use easyJet or the other airlines if only the highest priced tickets are available on than Eurostar.
It will be slower by air though and the transfers to and from the airports at both ends have significant costs in addition to the airline ticket.
Eurolines
Eurolines are by far the cheapest method, but is comparatively time consuming.

Day time journeys will take most of your day up.

London to Paris journeys start from Victoria Coach Station and travel by ferry from Dover.

Eurostar Train and Hotel Bundles
Eurostar the train company will also be glad to quote you for a combined train and hotel bundle. These can be very good value.

Eurostar trains also have some departures that go direct to Eurodisney to the east of Paris. Here again you can pick up combination packages covering hotel, train journey and Eurodisney tickets.

You can also do your own thing of course. There are a line of budget hotels directly opposite Gare Du Nord station and a very good choice of economic restaurants for all tastes.

Paris Hop On, Hop Off Tourist Bus
The formula is the same as many similar operations operating world-wide. A ticket which entitles you to unlimited rides on the buses which run along several routes passing all major Paris visitor attractions.
Commentary includes English.
