Tour Itinerary

Tower of London - A private tour away from the crowds

Following our coach drive past some of London's most famous landmarks including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament we arrive at the Tower of London where we are met on the middle drawbridge by our very own Yeoman Warder.

Leading us into this world heritage site before it opens to the public our Beefeater will take us on a private guided tour explaining the history behind this fortress of imprisonment and torture.

We are also the first group to see the Crown Jewels before enjoying some free time to explore on our own. Why not visit Traitors' Gate, the armouries or the Bloody Tower?

And keep an eye out for the famous Ravens. Tradition has it that if the Ravens leave the Tower the monarch will fall!

Changing Of The Guard

Departing the Tower we head to The Mall to watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony as one of the Queen's Household Regiments march from St. James Palace to Buckingham Palace dressed in their world famous tunics and busbies.

If the Changing of the Guard is not taking place you will still see Buckingham Palace and then visit the Horse Guards Parade instead.

Thames River Cruise & Lunch

St Paul's Cathedral London

St Paul's Cathedral

Next we take a short cruise on the River Thames as we enjoy excellent views of St. Paul's Cathedral and Shakespeare's Globe before heading for a traditional pub lunch in Whitehall, close to Downing Street, the residence of the Prime Minister (food/drink not included).

After lunch we have a photo stop at Westminster Abbey.

St Paul's Cathedral

The afternoon part of the tour begins with a visit to St Paul's Cathedral.

We will explore the masterpiece designed by Wren in 1673 with a professional guide, taking time to listen to the 1695 organ that Mendelssohn once played and visit the tombs of Nelson and Wellington.

There will also be the chance to test the unique acoustics of the Whispering Gallery (not normally visited by other tour groups).

On Sundays when there is restricted viewing at the Cathedral there will be an opportunity to enter and enjoy one of the services.

The tour finishes at County Hall, next to the London Eye and the London Dungeon with Big Ben opposite. The Park Plaza Westminster Hotel stands here, a large tower hotel with views over all this.

You have three options how to end your tour...

Full Afternoon Tea with a glass of Champagne (Magic of London Tour Only)

Why not take a flight on the London Eye or visit the London Dungeons or Sealife Aquarium? Full champagne afternoon tea with great views of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament all lit up, at the Westminster Park Plaza hotel.

Alternative Welcome To London Tour or Ride On The London Eye

We have an option where instead of taking afternoon tea with those wonderful views you take take a flight on the London Eye instead.

Alternatively just end your tour here and independently explore.

The London Dungeon and Sealife Aquarium are also at County Hall and Big Ben, Westinster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament are on the other side of Westminster Bridge, as is Westminster Underground Station.

Morning Hotel Pick Ups

Like all day tours, time is the enemy and all tours leave early in the morning.

Tour Hotel Pick-Up List

London is a spread out place and one bus would take all morning to go around each hotel individually. Instead separate coaches each cover their own part of London and take you to Victoria Coach Station where you switch to the your tour bus for the day.

The link below lists all the pick-up hotels and current times they visit. If your hotel is not on the list and it is in the centre of London then it is almost certain there will be another pick-up hotel very close by.

If you are still unclear where the best pick-up point is or you are coming from outside the centre we have a blog where on this linked page you can discuss one to one the best solution for you.
