Golden Tours hop-on hop-off

The Golden Tours open top bus tour is the comparatively new kid on the block as far as the hop-on, hop-off buses are concerned, challenging the long-established players Original London Tour and the Big Bus Tour.

The basic format remains the same for all three competitors, a hop-on, hop-off bus service stopping at all the major tourist attractions supplemented by a river cruise and walking tours.

Golden Tours routes

The Golden Tour offers three main routes (Blue, Red and Orange Tours), that between them cover all the major sights in London (see link to route map and summary of routes below). You can switch from one to another as you please if you buy the hop-on hop-off ticket.

Frequencies are every 5-10 minutes at the main tourist points where routes overlap and 10-20 minutes at the outer reaches of the network.

The main routes start up about 8.30am to 9am and start to wind down around 5pm.

The Essential Tour (Blue Route): Covers all the main Central London sights. This route includes a live English speaking guide. See Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral and more, as your live guide informs and entertains every step of the way.

The Classic Tour (Red Route): Covers all the main Central London sights and visits London's Museum Quarter.

The Grand Tour (Orange Route): This route passes Madame Tussauds and King's Cross, as well as many other Central London sights.

Bayswater and Paddington hotel district feeder service

If your accommodation is in the Bayswater, Notting Hill or Paddington hotel districts there is a special hotel connector service. These run before the main services start up and run in the mornings only.

Free River Cruise

Enjoy a complimentary river trip included in your panorama hop-on, hop-off bus ticket.

You are allowed one trip on the Thames Clipper service.

The river trip runs from the Tower of London to Westminster Pier by Big Ben, stopping at the London Eye.

Frequencies are approximately every 20 minutes in the summer and every 30-40 minutes in the winter.

Note the river cruise is not included in the one calendar day ticket.

Free Walking Tours

Two walking tours are made available for those purchasing the hop-on, hop-off tickets.

You may join as many of the walks as you wish. These relaxed walking tours give you the opportunity to learn about a specific part of London history.

The walking tours last approximately 1.5-2 hours and leave from the Trafalgar Square.

Note the walking tours are not included in the one calendar day ticket.

London introduction: 3-hour Open Top London Bus Tour

If you only have a limited time to see the very best London has to offer, then this 3-hour London Open Top Bus Tour will fit in perfectly with your schedule.

In summary you travel one lap of the hop-on hop-off route without getting off. The key aspects of this tour are:

  • This is not a hop-on, hop-off product as you stay on the bus. The 3-hour tour will finish where you started, but you can get off at any stop before your finish stop. You travel on the standard hop-on hop-off bus which will make many stops

  • You are free to choose one of the three routes for your 3-hour bus tour

  • Walking tours and river cruises are not included in this tour.

Top-tier attractions include Hampton Court, Kensington Palace, London Zoo, Kew Gardens, the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the Cabinet War Rooms/Churchill Museum and Windsor Castle.

Save money combining leading London attractions & hop-on hop-off sightseeing buses

The Original Tour as its name implies is the original hop-on hop-off London sightseeing bus service.

The hop-on, hop-off sightseeing buses are an excellent first day in London quickly getting you up to speed and orientated with the layout of London and your guide pointing out sights and destinations you might have not previously considered visiting.

But most visitors to London will have their own "must-see" list of attractions.

So why not save some money and purchase your hop-on, hop-off sightseeing bus tickets and your "must-see" attractions as a package. You don't have to use the attraction tickets on the day you use the sightseeing bus either.

Madame Tussauds, The London Eye, London Dungeon, London Aquarium, St Paul’s Cathedral, Kensington Palace and Tower of London are all available.
