By far the most popular option connecting Heathrow and Stansted are the broadly hourly bus / coach shuttles that provide near 24x7 schedules between Heathrow and Stansted airports. These are run by National Express .

Note: There is no direct train transfer between Heathrow and Stansted.

At Stansted the bus picks up from in front of the passenger terminal in a large spacious bus station.

At Heathrow its a little more complicated. All buses go to the Central Bus Station where Terminals 1 and 3 are. Its a 10 minute walk between the bus station and these terminals underground using moving walkways and lifts. You can also get a free train every 15 minutes from here to Terminals 4 and 5.

Most buses stop at Terminal 5 after the bus station at Heathrow on the way to Gatwick Airport. None stop at Terminal 4 you get the free train from the central area where the bus station is.

Cheapest Transport Heathrow - Stansted Airport

The cheapest way to travel between Stansted and Heathrow Airports is by London Underground and bus. Expect a travel time of around 3 hours though and being required to drag luggage up escalators and stairs and travel in crowded train carriages.

Going in the Heathrow to Stansted direction you would get the London Underground from Heathrow to Stratford on the other side of London to Heathrow. You will need to change trains at Green Park or Oxford Circus.

You then get the National Express London(Stratford) - Stansted Airport bus.

Shared Shuttle Vans Between Heathrow & Stansted Airport

Unlike many countries there is currently no shared 'supershuttle' style minibus operations at either Heathrow or Stansted.

Operations have come and gone but seem unable to compete with the public transport alternatives.

Heathrow - Stansted Airport With A London Stopover or Tour Transfer

You will need at least 7 hours between flights but its perfectly feasible to blend in some sightseeing as you stage through London. Indeed traveling indirect via Central London can be cheaper than taking the direct Heathrow - Stansted bus.
