First a word of warning, the Bed and Breakfasts on this page are not small cosy family homes with a handful of rooms where attentive hosts give you personal attention and home made treats.

These are small hotels offering simple accommodation at rock bottom prices. The very cheapest rooms may not be ensuite, many of the very cheap B&B hotels offer a choice of ensuite or shared bathroom accommodation.
Breakfast varies enormously between hotels, price not determining the quantity and quality of what you get.

The cheapest prices are where there is most competition. The 4 main cheap B&B areas are Victoria, Earls Court Kensington, King Cross and Bayswater/Paddington.

Victoria B&B's tend to set the benchmark for price, especially the Victoria Hugh Street B&B's behind the rail and coach stations. Victoria has probably the best location too, with direct cheap bus transfers to all four of London's airports combining with close proximity to all of the attractions.

Earls Court B&B's have comparable prices but is the furthest out of the 4 districts and if you are using Stansted or Luton airports, there is a tedious transfer.
For those flying into Heathrow, Earls Court can be ideal with a cheap direct Heathrow Underground service.

Bayswater is probably the best district in terms of facilities for the budget traveller. There are plenty of inexpensive restaurants, pubs and other welcome facilities like launderettes and late night supermarkets.

Kings Cross B&B's offer most consistently the best value for money. Nearly all the B&B's at Kings Cross London are clustered around a park square about 100m opposite the entrance to Kings Cross mainline station.

The area has an unfortunate reputation from a decade or so ago. The area is now enjoying lots of development and rejuvenation, a major trigger being the arrival of the Eurostar trains to Paris and beyond..

Behind Victoria Station in Hugh Street. In the same street, the owners run the almost identical Alexander B&B Victoria and Ivy House B&B Victoria offering perhaps the cheapest B&B in Victoria.
