For North American visitors, the Holiday Inn's in the UK are considered by many people to be more upmarket than many of their counterparts in North America.
Both Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza have very volatile room rates. Rates can easily double from one night to the next.
Best rates are the advance purchase rates and generally the earlier you book the cheaper the room rate. Rates also tend to change a lot on the day of the week. Sundays is almost uniformly the cheapest night.

Geographically, the Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza hotels are all central and in good locations.
For those flying into Heathrow the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum and Crowne Plaza Kensington are very convenient and are both within the more affordable Holiday Inn options.
The rest of the hotels, with the notable exceptions of the Crowne Plaza Shoreditch and Holiday Inn Camden Lock are in and around the West End of London, the entertainment and theatre district of Central London.
