London and the UK entered a full lockdown on 5 January 2021. At the end of March some restrictions were eased. Again on 12 April, more restrictions were eased. This means some tours are now running and some attractions have re-opened. Use our links below to find out what you can do in and around London now.
At London Toolkit we pride ourselves on sourcing the best tours and attractions in London and close by. The pandemic meant that many tours and attractions had to close. The good news is that many of London's attractions are already open and the tours are now slowly starting up again too, all with new safety measures in place.
This page is designed to highlight some of the tours that are now running again, so that you can once more enjoy everything London and its surrounds has to offer.
In the short-term these tours will have adaptations. They may not run on as many days or times as they did before or may require some degree of flexibility when booking. This is all because your safety and that of the operators will always be of paramount importance. This is why there are contingencies and cancellation policies in place, so that you can book with confidence and still have a great experience.
This is a small selection of tours that have started up again, you will find details of many more tours and attractions open throughout our site.
It stands to reason that the open-top buses will be one of the first tours to re-open. Sitting in the open-air on a moving bus through the city is one of the safer ways to see our great city.
The companies that provide the hop-on hop-off bus experience have all followed the Government guidelines on hygiene and safety, with regular cleaning of touch points, social distancing, signage, reduced numbers, mask wearing, health checks and more.
Although the buses are in the open-air it is still a requirement that you bring a facemask with you for use on the bus.
You'll find it better to book online in advance, any payments in person should only be done with contactless bank cards. The three operators are also offering excellent discounts currently to encourage more people to use the buses, so it really is a great time to take one of these beautiful tours.
Some of the providers routes have been changed and adapted, so do check their sites via our link below before booking, to make sure you know the best route for you.
Using an open-top bus to enjoy the city is a fantastic way to see all the amazing sights and a great way to get around without using public transport, which can be much busier at peak times.
Use the link below to find out about the three operators and book your tickets online in advance for a great day out in London.
Stonehenge is an incredibly popular trip from London. There are usually two daily trips from multiple operators, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. As these tours slowly start up again, there will need to be some flexibility on both the operators and passengers part.
As an example, Premium Tours are starting their daily trips to Stonehenge with both the morning and afternoon trips available. However, if numbers dictate, the two tours may be consolidated into just one tour per day. So, when booking do make sure you have the whole day available in case things need to be changed.
As Stonehenge is an outside attraction it is much easier to enjoy it safely and for the areas which are indoors, such as the visitor centre, cafe and toilets you can be assured that these are also following all the governement guidance for safety during the pandemic.
Other operators are also visiting Stonehenge so use the link below to discover more about this magical place and to book your tickets in advance.
Another way to visit Stonehenge is on a full day tour that also includes the stunningly beautiful City of Bath.
This tour will be running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Due to the Roman Baths currently not accepting group visits, this part of the tour is unavailable. However, Bath is such a wonderful city to explore with so many fascinating areas and attractions, that you will not be disappointed visiting it on this tour.
Enjoy seeing one of the wonders of the world at Stonehenge and then the Georgian marvel that is Bath in one day.
Highclere Castle is one of the most popular day trips from London. It is also the tour with the least availability. Dates are released months in advance and are sold out very quickly. It is not a case of picking the best date for you, rather you picking the first available date you find. The main reason for this is that Highclere Castle is also a home and as such has a much more limited opening season than other attractions.
The tour operators providing this tour are offering excellent cancellation policies that mean you can book ahead with confidence during the pandemic. Do make sure you read these terms and conditions on the booking page.
Highclere Castle tours can combine with sighseeing trips in the Cotswolds, including seeing other locations used in the Downton Abbey TV series and film. There are four main tours to choose from. Click the link to see our detailed page, available dates and discover full details of the tours on offer.
On Tuesdays and Sundays you can enjoy a tour to the beautiful Cotswolds, where you'll find chocolate box villages that will have you reaching for your camera at every turn. This tour also includes a 2-course lunch in Bibury.
On this tour you'll explore various pretty villages like Burford and Bibury and have photo stops at Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold amongst others.
Your lunch consists of 2-courses at a traditional English Inn.
The studios are reopening on 17 May 2021. There are a reduced amount of tickets available each day due to social distancing requirements. These tickets are in demand.
We partner with various operators who offer tours to the Warner Bros. Studios, which include your travel to and from the studios. We also have deluxe tours that are available that include private transfers.
Check our main Harry Potter page to see all the tours available and to book your tickets. Only tickets booked in advance will gain you entry.
On Saturdays, the vintage red double decker open top bus will run its tour through London in the afternoon.
This is a lovely way to explore the city and get your bearings and enjoy the one-off experience of travelling on a vintage iconic red open-top bus.

For the vast majority of visitors to London, the way you get about town on a day to day basis is by the London Underground, perhaps supplemented by the occasional red London bus using an Oyster or Travelcard.
But, especially for the first time visitor to London, the popular hop on, hop off sightseeing buses are a great orientation to the city of London getting you up to speed on the layout and spotting new places of interest you were not aware of.
You will have invested a lot of time and money in getting to London so you will want to use your time as efficiently as possible.
The hop on, hop off sightseeing buses are perhaps unrivalled in their ability to give you a speedy informed orientation to the layout of London. They also help you identify new locations that appeal to you, perhaps pointed out by the on-board guide and also give the once over those attractions you had always planned on visiting.
These buses offer comprehensive coverage covering nearly all the main sights in London. The popularity of the buses means there is one along every few minutes and you get a grandstand view perched up on the top deck of the bus.
In addition to the bus tour a river cruise and some free walking tours are all part of the deal.
