Gatwick Travel Lodges offer clean, modern, no nonsense accommodation with familiar brand names.
Travel Lodge in the UK is a term frequently use to describe a no frills budget hotel without facilities like 24 hour room service, gymnasiums, large lounges and a la carte restaurants of the full service hotels. By not having to pay for the extra staff and room required to provide these services, the savings are passed on in the form of a lower room rate.
Standard of cleanliness are normally high and bathrooms are what you would expect from a 3 star hotel. In the UK stars are awarded for services provided, not their quality so Travel Lodge chains tend not to even apply for a star rating.
In the UK, the two leading chains are Travelodge and Premier Inn, both well represented at Gatwick.
On this page we also look at two hotels owned by the French Accor group, the Ibis Gatwick and Mercure Gatwick.

Travelodge Gatwick
When the Travelodge chain are offering their advance purchase 'saver' rates the Travelodge Gatwick is the cheapest hotel at Gatwick Airport. Located about 1 mile from the terminals along the southern perimeter of the airport in the middle of one of the airports commercial estates. There is a local bus or a special hotel bus (not free) to the airport terminals.
The Travelodge Gatwick also has hotel and long term parking packages, but the car parking component is not at the hotel, but one of Gatwick's commercial dedicated car parking facilities which provides complementary transfers.

Premier Inn Gatwick Central
The Premier Inn Gatwick is a 3 floor classic no frills budget hotel situated 500m from the North Terminal Building. It is the only budget hotel in the Gatwick Airport Terminal complex. It is possible to walk from the North Terminal at Gatwick to the Premier Inn Gatwick.
Premier Inn is the UK's largest budget hotel chain. Most people would consider their hotels slightly more upmarket to its big rival Travelodge. Family Rooms, accommodating up to two children are normally the same price as a room for two people.
The Premier Inn Gatwick Central is a relatively new hotel with reasonable food and drink options. In many ways the Premier Inn Gatwick Central is the benchmark to beat if you are not looking for a full service hotel.

Premier Inn Gatwick South

| Premier Inn Gatwick South |
The Premier Inn Gatwick South is a good contrast with the sister hotel the Premier Inn Gatwick Central, detailed above.
In contrast to the purpose built. modern block that is the Gatwick Central, Gatwick South is like an old coaching inn in a setting with olde worlde pub, pond and extensive grounds. The accommodation block is more recent than the olde worlde pub.
The Premier Inn Gatwick South though less than 2 miles to the south of the Gatwick terminals has no transfer facility of its own, other than calling a cab. There is a public bus from close by but this is really for motorists.

Ibis Gatwick
The Ibis Hotel Gatwick offers value for money budget accommodation. The Ibis Hotel Gatwick is a large 147 room hotel operating a 24x7 shuttle to the terminals and has its own restaurant and buffet breakfasts available.
The Ibis Hotel Gatwick is a modern purpose built block just to the south of the airport next to the Premier Inn Gatwick South.
Mercure Gatwick
The Mercure Gatwick stretches the envelope of what can be called a no frills hotel, but in terms of price is often comparable and offers a good value for money proposition.
Until recently the Mercure Gatwick was the Renaissance Gatwick, which was one of the nicest 4 star hotels on Gatwick Airport. Many of the services and facilities of such opulence have stopped with the Mercure but the basic hotel and rooms were built to 4 star standards with spacious public areas.
The Mercure Gatwick also has extensive grounds and is located within a mile of Gatwick's passenger terminals. A hotel bus connects the Mercure with the terminals.
