Your first stop of the day is Oxford.

Your visit begins with a guided walking tour amongst the cloisters and quadrangles of Britain's oldest University, founded in 1167 when King Henry II banned English students from attending the University of Paris. This guided walking tour will take you into the heart of this land of hallowed academia, to the Bodleian Library, to the Radcliffe Camera, Sheldonian Theatre, Harry Potter film locations and University buildings.

Entry is included to the Divinity School, built in 1488 for the teaching of theology. This splendid room is the University's earliest purpose built teaching room, and its first examination hall.

After the guided tour there will be some free time to enjoy the city, before you depart Oxford and head for your next stop, the beautiful Cotswolds.

The Cotswolds: Burford, Bibury, Coln Valley and country pub lunch

The Cotswolds country pub
Relax in a beautiful country pub for lunch

Following Oxford, you will drive to the gentle rolling limestone hills of the Cotswolds, driving down single track narrow country lanes in our minibus, exploring the back roads and little winding valleys.

With your expert guide on board, you will learn of the rise and fall of the wool trade in this region and how it left behind a landscape untouched by the modern world, featuring small honey coloured stone villages and hidden green valleys with babbling streams.

Your first stop is delightful Burford with stone houses cascading down to the River Windrush, see Woolsack tombs in the historic churchyard before you stop for a delicious lunch in a traditional Cotswolds country pub

Sit back and relax in an ancient stone hostelry and experience centuries-old tavern life in a world where a gentle, slower pace is the norm.

You will then visit Bibury with its photogenic collection of houses known as Arlington Row, before driving through stunning centuries old villages with photo stops along the beautiful Coln Valley.

The smaller vehicles are able to travel up the narrow Coln Valley on single track roads, passing fields of sheep, historic churches and sleepy hamlets.

Your last stop is bustling Stow-on-the-Wold with its vibrant market square, before driving back to London passing through Chipping Norton and Woodstock.

Why choose a small group tour?

International Friends small group tour bus
Small group tour bus

On this small group tour you travel in a small touring bus with a passenger capacity of 16 people. Other “standard” coach tours from London use full size touring coaches with around 50 passengers, and on a few tours over 70.

On a small group tour you will receive a personalised guiding service. The driver/guide is able to gauge where the interests of the passengers line, tailoring commentary, sometimes itinerary to those interests And of course you have much better access to the guide to ask questions and be more informed.

Where possible, the tour will venture off the main roads down the country lanes into the countryside where the large tour groups cannot venture.
