Tour itinerary

Many tours pass through the Cotswolds and give a tantalising glimpse of the Cotswolds; this tour gives the Cotswolds centre stage and spends all day in the Cotswolds, visiting four very different villages.

Burford, Bibury, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water are the villages that you can explore, and we pass through many more.

You will get to enjoy a two course lunch included in the price of the tour at one of the villages visited, overlooking the river.

Burford & Cotswolds

A professional guide is aboard the luxury air-conditioned touring bus the entire day and will provide commentary and guiding throughout. It is a two hour journey to our first stop, Burford, our gateway town into the Cotswold region.

The Cotswolds represents an area that is forever England, remaining seemingly unchanged with the passing of time. Rolling landscapes, dry stone walls, perpendicular churches and sparkling clear streams fuse with tiny villages and hamlets with their charming limestone houses, tea shops and inns.

At Burford, we park off the magnificent High Street, which slopes down to the River Windrush holding every variety of Cotswold stone. There will be time to visit the small tea houses before heading south onto Bibury.

Swan Hotel Bibury

Lunch at Swan Hotel Bibury

Bibury & lunch

Bibury was described as the 'The most beautiful village in England' by William Morris.

Bibury is a place many people return to time and time again, for its tranquillity by the river, and old stone cottages and mills.

After a short walking tour, we make our way to a 17th century former coaching inn, the Swan hotel, where you can enjoy a fabulous two course lunch in the centre of Bibury, overlooking the River Coln.

The Swan serves a range of traditional cooking, ales and fine wines. On rare occasions an alternative may be used if the Swan cannot be used.

It is now around 1pm when we leave Bibury and head northwards.

Bourton-on-the-Water & Stow-on-the-Wold

In the afternoon you will have approximately an hour to explore Bourton-on-the-Water, another delightful village in the Cotswolds with its shops, restaurants and tea rooms.

Walk down the banks of the River Windrush with its beautiful stone bridges, and next to the Old Mill, where it flows over rapids, past the green with its banks of Cotswold stone.

Just fifteen minutes' drive away is Stow-on-the-Wold, a beautiful and impressive market town in the Cotswolds. You will see the attractive Market Square, a bygone of the town's former importance for its annual wool fairs.

You will also come across the ancient cross, and the town stocks, shaded between an old elm tree. Stow is an important shopping centre and has many fine antique shops, art galleries, and gifts shops.

We leave Stow-on-the-Wold for the trip back to London late afternoon, a journey of over two hours. The estimated time of arrival back in London is around 6.15pm.
