Premier Inn Terminal 5 Heathrow Airport

Of the budget hotel chains, Premier Inn is the largest in the UK and is thought of as having high quality relative to its rivals. Add competitive pricing and the great value offered and its no wonder that many British always check out the Premier inn option.

At Heathrow Airport, Premier Inn currently has three hotels spread around the edge of the airport, all of them recent build hotels that have opened in the last 15 years.

Heathrow Airport has four terminals literally miles apart from another, you could stay at any one of three Premier Inn hotels at Heathrow whichever passenger terminal you are flying out of. All of the Premier inn hotels at Heathrow have Hoppa Buses that shuttle to and from all the passenger terminals frequently.

Pricing across all three hotels tends to be identical for the same dates. All the Premier inn hotels have family rooms that can accommodate two adults and two children, normally for the same price as a standard double twin. All have car parking, but none offer free car parking. Only the Premier Inn (Bath Road) regularly offers hotel and long term car parking packages which offer very good value.

So taking each Premier Inn one by one ...

• Premier Inn Terminal 5 - As its name implies, this Premier Inn is close to Terminal 5, but its best part of 2 miles from the terminal, you cannot walk it. This is a 400 bedroom hotel only opened in 2012. Besides the restaurant option within the hotel there is a McDonald's almost next door and a couple of pubs with 5 minutes walk. Hoppa Buses go to all four terminals, but of course this hotel is most handy for Terminal 5. In addition to the Hoppa Buses you can use the 423 red London bus that stops almost outside the Premier Inn. The 423 bus is more frequent than the Hoppa Bus and to Terminal 5 where it terminates is free. From Terminal 5 there are other free buses to Terminal 4 or you can take the Heathrow Express train free over to Heathrow Central where Terminals 1 and 3 are located.

• Premier Inn (Bath Road) - is located to the north-east of the airport. Although there are Hoppa Buses all of the terminals, Terminal 5 is the other side of the airport. Terminals 1 and 3 are the main terminals this hotel services. The hotel is outside the free bus zone, unlike the Premier Inn Terminal 5 though there are local buses every 5 minutes from in front of the hotel to the Central Bus Station between Terminals 1 and 3. Within 5 minutes walk is the airport bowling alley and at Cranford there is a neighbourhood shopping area with a wide range of fast food, cheap eats and convenience stores, chemists etc.

• Premier Inn M4 Junction 4 - is located right next to Junction 4 of the M4, only about half a mile from the junction of the M4/M25 motorways. Its pretty isolated if you don't have your own transport and given this isolation and great access to the motorways this Premier Inn is probably best suited to motorists. There are Hoppa Buses if you need them and 10 minutes walk away is Sipson where you'll find a few pubs and restaurants.

Premier Inn Heathrow (Bath Road) Doubles From £53 Room A TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and a seating area feature in each spacious and air conditioned room at the Premier Inn London Heathrow Airport (Bath Road). A full all-you-can-eat breakfast as well as a wide continental selection are served in the Thyme Restaurant. Premier Inn Terminal 5 Heathrow Doubles From £55 Room Premier Inn features modern rooms, a 24-hour front desk, and a Costa Coffee shop. Every room includes cosy Hypnos beds and a modern private bathroom and hairdrye, flat-screen TV and free tea and coffee. Premier Inn Heathrow M4 Junction 4 Doubles From £55 Room All air-conditioned rooms feature a TV, large work area and free tea and coffee. Each bathroom has a power shower and a hairdryer. 24-hour reception. The contemporary bar and restaurant serves a varied menu in relaxing surroundings. Travelodge at Heathrow

The main rival in the budget chain hotel sector to Premier Inn in the UK measured by number of hotels are Travelodge.

Travelodge as a general rule are perceived as being more basic than Premier Inn with lower room rates.

At Heathrow, Travelodge have two hotels, one to the east of the airport, the other to the west. If you can bag an on-line saver rate you will probably have purchased a room for much less than any other hotel at Heathrow that night.

Travelodge Heathrow Central Flexible Room Rates From £36 Room Located to the east of the airport at Cranford surrounded by a small neighbourhood shopping area with lots of fast food and convenience stores. Ensuite bathroom, a colour TV with Satellite, telephone, radio, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Bar, Restaurant. Travelodge Terminal 5 Heathrow Flexible Room Rates From £49 Room Located to the west of the airport about a mile from Terminal 5 itself by a M25 motorway junction. The Hoppa Bus only goes to Terminal 5. Ensuite bathroom, a colour TV with Satellite, telephone, radio, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Bar, Restaurant. Other No Frills Chain Hotels at Heathrow

Premier Inn and Travelodge do not have the no frills budget market all to themselves. In our opinion the Ibis Heathrow and Holiday Inn Express Heathrow are well worth checking out as well.

Ibis Heathrow Doubles From £39 Room All air conditioned rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities, a work desk, and fresh, modern decor, free tea & coffee making facilities and a TV. Restaurant, Bar, 24-Hour Front Desk. The airport bowling alley is a hundred yards away and the hotel is within the free bus zone to the centre of the airport. Holiday Inn Express Terminal 5 Heathrow Doubles From £49 Room All have an en-suite bathroom, blackout curtains, satellite TV, secondary glazing, air conditioning, pay-per-view movies, tea and coffee, a desk and a modem point. A free hot and continental breakfast is served as part of the room rate. Restaurant and local pubs in the immediate vicinity.
